Central Milling to build flour mill in Hyrum, create jobs
HYRUM, Utah — Logan-based flour company Central Milling is planning to expand its operations with a proposed flour mill located in Hyrum’s industrial park as the company discusses business and partnerships with major commercial names.
The Hyrum Planning Commission recently met with representatives from Central Milling and approved their proposed site plan for a 12,000-square-foot sprouted dough plant at 168 S. 1720 East. The proposed site will be Central Milling’s first construction project in the area, although the company already owns 22 acres of land in the Blacksmith Fork Industrial Park.
The company’s leaders intend for the plant to operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with 12 to 15 employees per shift, but if business keeps expanding the likelihood for additional jobs to be added is high. Central Milling would like to start construction as soon as a building permit is obtained, with plans to start building by this December if possible and ultimately completing and opening the plant sometime next June.
